M Group Services have enlisted Green Commute Initiative (GCI), the UK’s industry leading Cycle to Work scheme provider with the dual purpose of improving both your health and wellbeing, as well as reducing the environmental impact of pollution and congestion from cars.
Unlike other Cycle to Work schemes, GCI do not impose a £1,000 limit on a voucher, making it easier for people to purchase an E-bike through the scheme, which can often be more expensive.
With an E-bike you can sail over hills and cruise long distances, all because of the battery. This powers the bike, when you want it to, so whenever you feel cycling is taking too much effort, activate the power and away you go.
E-bikes are better for the environment and great for commuting; cycle in your business attire without getting hot & sweaty and arrive at work on time, feeling energised, and not stressed from the commute.
E-bikes are perfect for those new to cycling and wanting to build their confidence.
Please note that this benefit is not available all year round - there are two selection windows each year in May and September during which you can make your application. The Reward and Benefits team will send out reminders when the window is due to open.

How it works:
You log onto the GCI portal during the selection window, available under the Company Benefits section on My Rewards, and request a voucher for the hire of a bike package, including any accessories. Once your application is approved by People Services and the voucher is issued, you then use the voucher to hire a bike package through GCI. GCI hires the bike directly to you. All order information is submitted online and the agreements are signed electronically. You can use PCs, tablets or smartphones to make your application.
You sacrifice the same amount of salary as the cost of the voucher. The sacrifice is made from gross pay so higher rate taxpayers will save 42% and lower rate taxpayers save 32%. Additional rate taxpayers will save 47%.
Am I eligible?
If you are a UK PAYE taxpayer, and the salary sacrifice doesn’t take you below minimum wage, then you can get a bike on the scheme.
How much will I save?
- lower rate tax payers save 32%
- higher rate tax payers save 42%
- additional rate tax payers save 47%
Rates will vary in Scotland. if you are unsure which rate you pay, please contact the payroll department.
Check out the savings calculator on the GCI website to see how much you can save.

Current government rules mean that National Minimum Wage employees are automatically excluded from the standard corporate scheme. In response, GCI created Everyone Cycle to run alongside its standard corporate Cycle to Work scheme, which makes bikes affordable to those who can’t participate in salary sacrifice such as those on National Minimum Wage, giving them opportunity to commute to work by bike.
We are running this scheme alongside the standard corporate salary sacrifice scheme to ensure all our people can take advantage of cycling to work if they so desire. Different voucher limits and repayment terms apply, please see the Company Benefits section of My Rewards for further details.
